HotPort 3200 Outdoor Wireless Mesh Nodes

HotPort 3200 series outdoor mesh nodes have weatherproof IP67/NEMA 4X enclosures and connect wirelessly to indoor and outdoor HotPort nodes to form a high performance wireless mesh network for video, voice and data. Outdoor nodes feature a dual spectrum radio; optional spectrum-specific, high gain omni-directional antennas; and a built-in dual port 10/100 Ethernet switch that supports 802.3af Power over Ethernet. They can operate at 2.4 GHz for maximum capacity and range, or at 5 GHz for maximum capacity and minimal interference from 2.4 GHz devices. A removable sunshield and a flexible mounting kit are provided with each mode. HotPort 3100 indoor mesh nodes and HotPort 3203 outdoor mesh nodes are fully interoperable with each other.

HotPort outdoor mesh nodes connect wirelessly to other indoor and outdoor HotPort nodes to form a high performance wireless mesh network. The nodes have weatherproof enclosures and are designed for rugged environments.

HotPort outdoor mesh nodes operate at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, and include two weatherproof 10/100 Ethernet ports that support 802.3af Power over Ethernet. These units are certified for use with a variety of high-gain antennas and come equipped with a flexible mounting bracket for pole or wall mounting.

HotPort 3200 series nodes are available in all regions, while HotPort 3600 series nodes, equipped with 400 mW radios, are available in the US only.

HotPort High Performance Mesh Network Feature Set
The significant new features of the HotPort High Performance Mesh Network and its companion HotView Mesh Management Software provide a wealth of customer benefits that, together, make the solution as easy to sell as it is to deploy and operate. Below are highlights of the key features, details of which are available separately in the product datasheets and documentation.

Rugged Construction - All HotPort outdoor nodes have weatherproof NEMA 4X/IP66-rated cast aluminum enclosures to withstand the harshest of environments. Each unit includes a removable sun shield, offers flexible mounting options and tolerates a wide temperature range.
Spectrum Flexibility - HotPort mesh nodes operate in the unlicensed spectrum at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. With judicious frequency and channel selection, you can deploy multiple mesh networks in close proximity.
Weatherized Ethernet Ports - Two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports can be used to connect any outdoor rated equipment: access points, IP video surveillance cameras, sensor equipment.
Power over Ethernet - Standard IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) allows the HotPort node to serve as power sourcing equipment to an attached device.
Practical Power Options - Outdoor nodes are available with a choice of two additional power options: a weatherized AC adapter and a street light power tap. HotPort nodes can also be used with third-party battery backup systems and solar-powered charging systems.
MeshBridge - MeshBridge feature enables internetworking among multiple HotPort mesh networks to form a single LAN or WAN environment with up to 1,000 mesh nodes, enhancing throughput and simplifying management of large-scale networks.
SNMP Management and Web-based Client - SNMP Management allows you to integrate management of HotPort network into a network management system such as HP OpenView or IBM NetView. Web-based Client provides connection to HotView Pro Server through a web browser, eliminating the need to run a separate client application.
Class of Service - Three levels of CoS allow you to prioritize traffic to improve mesh performance, especially in "triple play" data, voice and video applications.
Virtual LANs - Traffic segmentation affords greater privacy, and enhances mesh performance and scalability by allowing traffic to be directed along specific VLAN routes.
Traffic Encryption - 128- or 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard provision ensures security of the HotPort mesh. External encryption, such as with a virtual private network (VPN), is preserved as traffic traverses the mesh network.
Mesh Management Software - Each HotPort node includes HotView mesh management software for basic mesh configuration and monitoring. Optional HotView Pro software enables control of large mesh environments and multiple networks. MultiMesh, SNMP Management, Web-based Client and MeshBridge features are supported only by HotView Pro.

REAL-WORLD APPLICATIONS
Metro
The advent of broadband wireless networking has made it easier and less expensive to provide "triple play" data, voice and video communications throughout an entire metropolitan or rural area. Wireless mesh networking in particular holds the greatest promise owing to its superior scalability, reliability, and ease of deployment and operation over other wireless technologies.

The HotPort High Performance Mesh Network has been designed to meet the many demanding requirements of large-scale metro area applications. The use of dual spectrum radios operating at unlicensed frequencies minimizes radio interference to expand coverage without sacrificing performance. (The HotPort Public Safety High Performance Mesh Network operates in the U.S.-licensed 4.9 GHz spectrum.) The AutoMesh protocol allows the mesh to form automatically, and overcomes line-of-sight barriers that can cripple other wireless solutions. Seamless operation outdoors and indoors allows the network to extend into public facilities, such as administrative buildings, stadiums and convention centers. And where wiring does exist, the EthernetDirect feature allows for use of a full-duplex 10/100 Mbps link to enhance performance even further.

A HotPort mesh environment can scale up to 1000 nodes using the MeshBridge feature to interconnect multiple mesh networks that may operate on different frequencies or channels, and/or serve separate applications or venues. The entire mesh infrastructure can be managed centrally using the intuitive HotView Pro Mesh Management Software. The MultiMesh capability makes it possible for a single authorized administrator to manage multiple mesh networks from a single screen. Or multiple administrators can be assigned different privileges for one or more mesh networks. With the remarkably versatile HotPort mesh network, there is almost no challenge too great - and no application too big (or small) - to handle cost-effectively.
